CODEPINK is a women-led grassroots organization that channels localized movements into large-scale campaigns and international issues. The NGO organizes around issues of U.S. militarism, global inequality and human rights with a particular focus on women’s issues and women’s role within these movements. CODEPINK was formed in 2002 in an effort to preven the U.S.-Iraq war, and now actively opposes the U.S. war in Afghanistan, the use of torture, the Guantanamo detention center, weaponization and use of drones, the prosecution of whistleblowers, U.S. support of Israeli occupation of Palestine and other international issues of justice and oppression.
