Appalachia Water Watch

Appalachia Water Watch is our newest program designed to address the single largest source of environmental degradation to our region. The entire lifecycle of coal—mining, processing, burning, and waste disposal—seriously threatens Appalachia’s biodiversity, ecosystems, and people.

The aim of Appalachia Water Watch is to reduce coal-related water pollution in the region by giving citizen scientists the training and tools necessary to monitor potentially polluted waterways and record violations of water quality standards by the coal industry.
